converting front suspension mount points

Post by big lux »

hay ive gt and 85 dual cab lux its starting to get pretty big now and thinking about getting the rear weld on suspension mounts and welding them under the standard front shackel mounts in the chassie on the front leaf and using the rear extended shackels on the front spring. this way not having to put huge radius on the front springs for extra lift keepinf good flex. Is this a good idea or am i jus thinking silly. doin this also will alow the use of drop shackels on the front if needed later.

thankyou for your thoughts

drop crossmember, bubs, superior, whoever. is front hangers welded onto a peice of rhs. or in bubs case 6mm plate folded up and welded. then extended shackles on front or rear springs

cut the old front hangers off and weld that in in there place. if need be get the shackle mounts aswell and mount them under the chassis which is what i guess you wanted to do.

I'd do the drop hanger and extended shackles as this will keep the castor right if you really want to run drop shacles on the front later down the track you'll always sell the old extended ones on here.
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=107911 half way down the page or so theres a pic of mine with a drop hanger fitted
plenty of parts on the bench
