Where to get lexan (polycarbonate) sheet in Sydney

Hi all,

As the title says I am looking for a supplier of Lexan sheet in Sydney, I need some for the back and side windows on my chopped GQ.

Had a search on the web and found Allplastics Engineering Pty Ltd, just wondered what other suppliers were around that people may know or have used.

So anyone know where to buy Lexan sheet in about 2 or 3mm sheet.

Last time I looked it was cheaper to freight from somewhere in Melbourne but cant find where I put the bit of paper with the number on it.

Why dont you just get a cheap say Hilux ? rear window and make the back window suit that ?

Will the GQ be engineered ? I wanted to use perspex for a back window in my rangie ute but was told it wont pass, if lexan is legal i could use that instead.

So I'm told because it is impact resistant and scratch resistant if you get the good stuff, which is more $$.

i got the polycarbonate for my small rear windows at Bunnings ,. 600x900x3mm cost $40, its impact resistant and UV stabilised. you can get it in clear or tinted, easy to cut with the jigsaw with a fine blade.

i did ask so as not waste time or money must be lexan to pass engineers in nsw i am doing the same window as above in my cut

City West Plastics in Rydalmere have got all sorts or plastics. Can't locate the number off hand, but we source all sorts of plastic from them. Even Carbon Fibre reinforced Polyethylethylketone .

If you haven't, Reverse Garbage has quite a lot of sheet plastic, and in some big pieces, too. If they have the right type you'll get it a lot cheaper than anywhere else!

We were going to use it to replace a steel centre gear in a planetary gearset, that's how strong the stuff is. Unfortunately, it wasn't strong enough

It was over $300 for a 35 x 150mm rod of it its much cheaper in pellet form though for doing injection mouldings.

Paul bear in mind, i was going to use this when engineering my ute chop, but was also told it wont pass as it does not meet and have the aus standards logo on it, just double check with your engineer to be sure,
