rear door problem

Post by Sam Walker »

Dad's V6(auto) Vitara was reversed into a pole recently, so he took it to a smash repair place and they fitted a replacement rear door. The top of the door doesn't seal properly, let in water when driving in the rain and soon after the window shattered when the door was closed. All this suggests to me that the door doesn't fit properly - maybe it has come from a wreck and isn't straight, or that it's from a different year car.
It's a sideways opening door, the hinges don't look distorted on the body or the door, and the edges of the door sit flush with the body as they should
The smash repair place is "fixing" it today but they seemed to be a bit blase about it and not really listening to them re the water leak etc.
I'd appreciate any advice you guys might have re this problem.
BTW the car has a pretty easy life, mostly highway driving, no serious wheeling !
