Hey thought I would post um as I'm being lazy and wasn't really getting anywhere with searches...
Got a Jimny 1.3 motor but comes with a Auto, not too keen on using the auto but would like to install the motor and replace my carbied 1.3 motor. I have basically a whole Jimny so wiring shouldnt be a problem.
So can I bolt up this motor to my old gearbox and use the fly wheel, or would I need to find a Jimny 5speed to go in then just modify the drive shaft to the transfer..? This sounds the easiest but I dont have a gearbox at this stage, obviously things such as new exhaust and other mods may come into play that I am aware of so anyone being able to shed some light on this would be cool or previous links or sites.

You will need to buy a jimny 5sp as the m13a is different from the g13bb which bolts up to the sierra box.
Left hand engine mount will bolt straight up but you will have to mod the right hand engine mount. The radiator from the sierra is fine.
You can also modify the jimny jackshaft to drive to the transfer case...
You will need an efi tank.....The vitare tanks suit unless you have space for the jimny mid mount tank.....

The manual shifter will sit over the transfer shifter. The whole car will drive better offroad with the auto anyway, and as you already own it, just put it in. It will be much easier to fit.
There's no sierra pattern gearbox in the M bolt pattern.
The auto is very small but with a good cooler it will be fine - Greg's car runs the same auto with a G13BB jimny - I haven't seen the auto temp gauge over 105deg, and that was on the highway. offroad it doesn't get this high. just run a gauge and make sure your gearing is right.

I think the the 5spd gearbox for the Jimny with the M motors is a totally different gear ratio range. 5th gear is 1:1, and they are lower before that.
I love this idea as you dont have an overdrive and hence less losses in 5th gear, however it may muck with your cars overall gears if it is already well set up.

They could do this because the newer Jimny transfer is higher ratiod, and hence the overall difference was very little. They only difference between the mentioned model 5spd for sierra and earlier models is 5th I think.

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
M13a 5speed is the same ratios as the G13 5spd.
The gearbox shifter sits further back (I forget the exact measurement but essentially if you were to relocate the hole in the transmission tunnel to immediately infront of where the transfer shifter is) best to put some bends into the shifters so that they clear eachother easily.
The Sierra jackshaft fits between the Jimny box and the Sierra transfer.
Mount at the rear of the gear box misses by about 50mm needs a little bit of fab work.
If you run with an engine mounted fan it will sit pretty close to the standard Sierra radiator (ie 10mm) I have gone electric fan.

If you use the jimny cluster you will also have tacho as sierra tacho will not work with m13a or g13bb.

I have considered using the Auto and thought of how much easyier crawling would be...? Im currently running 31"s and ser3 rockhopper gears in the transfer so I wonder how well it would go..? Would I lose that down hill control I have currently with gearing in 1st. So running a cooler for the auto is recommend if I go this option
I did forget to mention or worded it wrongly in that my Sierra is a NT with current WT running gear, so mounts have been changed, as well as the mount for the gear box being able to slided on the chassis if needed to mount up correctly. The engine is now accessibly and the only damage to it seems to be the pulley on the power steering, when the radiator hit it.
