Pre-Running Baja
My navigator is moving to the states for 6 months. I will be meeting up with him in november to watch the baja. Has anyone hired a pre runner and driven in mexico?
Is there a realistically priced way of doing it?
I have got one quote so far - $4500 US each for 4 days so that won't be happening!!!!!
Be good to just get a day drive or something in a basic pre-runner, nothing flash
any ideas?
cheers bru

Tell them what your plans are and where your from. A pre runner should be an easy ride to get into. If Lance gives you any tips run with them.
Here is another person looking for a similar ride- http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=601962

There is an Aus version that's been running for yearschimpboy wrote:Yeah, why is it not popular here?v840 wrote:Have you asked on Pirate? Heaps more guys are into it on there. Its nowhere near as prevalent in Aus. (although it should be given the deserts we have at our disposal)
Heard a dude talking about it on ABC 2 days ago
I think its mainly the expense. To build a vehicle that can handle the punishment dished out at these speeds on this terrain costs huge $$$. And in Australia just like allmost all other motorsport there isnt the sponsorship backing like they have in the US.chimpboy wrote:Yeah, why is it not popular here?v840 wrote:Have you asked on Pirate? Pre-runner is a less extreme, road registered version of the race truck, that the teams use to pre-run the course.fool_injected wrote:Finke River race is the closest thing in oz

As far as people throwing money around offroad racing, all you have to do is go see a national round here in Australia.
There is quite a few people throwing around $250+ machines.
A Geiser trophy truck arrived in June with another being finished to compete soon.
Offroading here is definitly worth checking out.
Either way enjoy Baja.
