Help! Need close up pics of bracket for K&N R-1380

Post by murcod »

Has anyone got any close up pics of the bracket they've used to mount their K&N pod filter?

I need to make the bracket this weekend, but haven't got the filter yet! :bad-words: It's a long story that I won't bore everyone with........

Thanks Kent, that will do nicely. :D

I wasn't sure if it had to be bent on some strange angle, or how long etc.

I think they sell Unifilter and the pod is mounted back further in the engine bay somehow?

Here's another option for mounting the R-1380 K&N air filter.

Mounting it this way makes it a five minute job to change back to the standard canister for serious off road stuff. It should also get colder air being farther away from the exhaust manifold, and no custom brackets are required to be made.

Whether or not leaving the extra inlet tubing in will make a lot of difference to power gains I don't know? Sometimes longer inlets can actually help to increase the power output- there was a Zoom article a while back where they experimented with a Commodore V6 and found a ridiculously long inlet length gave the best power (it was so long it couldn't possibly be fitted under the bonnet!)

I've now got enough space to mount a third battery!

that was exactly what i was planning on doin murcod... so i take it there was enough room to squeeze the filter in next to the tubing.. i was curious about that myself.. still havent gotten the filter yet.... things keep happening an my money goes elsewhere... lol

Yes, there's plenty of space. The inlet to the filter is offset, so you can gain more space by rotating it too. It's a tight fit on the tubing, so possibly another model K&N (larger?) would fit.

When I get a bracket made I'll compare the difference in performance (if there is any).
