BBM? Snake Racing?

*tries to drag himself away from keyboard..... nooooooooooooooo*

by the time you have assembled the parts and knowledge to iron all the problems out, the $100 postage will be the cheapest thing in the car- there $700 in the steering if you want to do it right

*sorry  everyone who knows me will have expected that*

I know.... It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside ;)

PS- Seriously though - SPOAS are very very expensive to do properly. On a $$$ vs effort vs outcome perspective, they offer a pretty low return in an otherwise fairly standard car.

I know, if you want to turn the car into a hilux, yes, they can work, but I think there's about $2.5K in dialling one in- snake histeer, 4 shocks, 4 springs, brake lines, driveline work, then a heap of brackets, fab and head scratching.

I believe $2.5k was about the going rate in Vic from a workshop for one with no shocks and no cert.

The limiting factor in a sierra's capability isn't in which side of the axle the springs are located IMHO

OH MY GOD!!!! all I did was open this can and look at all the worms!

it is nowhere near as hard or expensive as steve is saying if you do it by your self

just out of curiosity what does a 2 inch spring lift and a 2 inch body lift cost for a shop to do?

No idea, I have never paid a shop to do either... because you can bolt either in on your driveway.

I agree Redzook - if you can do the work yourself, a SPOA can be done for only the component and material costs, which are quite low, but if you can't fabricate, (and therefore are asking about sources for all the brackets etc) or don't understand everything that is required, then it will be expensive to do one.

It's like saying I can paint my car for $70... because I have a spray booth and and I am a painter with $5K of gear in the shed....

If you don't have in inside knowledge... it's going to cost to get one right.

I still say there are lots of unsafe SPOA's out there. That's not a dig at SPOA, only that people think they are cheap and easy and don't spend the required coin to get them right.

The same is true of lots of work on a car, but SPOA's are an easy target as they can be done so badly.
