TD42 best place to obtain oil/water feed and return 4 turbo.

Post by Hof »

Hello,

Another thing I need to know for my turbo project, where is the best place to obtain oil/water feed return..

Oil I have forund two suggestion, either oil pressure sender or I think there is a grub screw near the altenator the is from the high pressure main gallery, can this be confirmed..

Return through a t-piece with altenator? Yes/No

Water I have no idea, suggestions please.. Someone said maybe tap into heater feed and return, is this ok/best place to do this??

Thanks for your help,

Hof

a tap into the high pressure gally will be good for oil, as far as your water goes id be taking it from the coldest part first ;) ie, if you can get to it before it enters the engine that would be best imo.

There is a grub screw basically in between your passenger side engine mount. Take it out and screw in a 1/8 bsp x 1/4 flare into engine block, then run your oil feed to the turbo using braided sexy hose.

As far as returning the oil into the same feed as the alternator, only do this if you are installing a high mount turbo. Doing in a low mount application will result in leakage due to oil backing up.

Water lines... I didn't have to tape for mine. Many folks query whether water cooling is needed for diesels.

One of the water hoses on my Mav is connected to a tee fitting in the hose coming out the top of the thermostat housing. I'll have a look where the other one is a bit later.

Yes I do know, just dont get on here every day. Water can be plumbed of heater hoses, or from t/stat outlets, just make sure it flows in the correct direction.
