G'day all,
I'm going up to look at the RR that I have been offered on Sunday (my friend has had it for the last 4 years), As I have said, it's done 550 000kms (not sure how they know, maybe a log book) engine had rings and bearings at 400 000kms. The gearbox is fine, but it has done alot of kms, and the only real problem is the rear diff (which I have a spare diff here) now the body is perfect (has had almost a full respray, its that dusty colour) and there is no rust anywhere.
Now If I can get it for $1000 do people think it's worth it? It has mainly done highway driving with only dirt road (no hardcore) off road work.
I have heard of 2 examples of RR's still going today with over 650 000kms still running on the original wheel bearings !!!!
I plan on doing some mods to make it capable off road (but not too extreme as It will be a tour/tow and daily driver vehicle). Like I would upgrade the rear trailing arms and steering arms. Put a 2" spring lift and run 33" tyres (Do I need to have a 2" body lift to fit 33" tyres??). I would also have sill protectors and bash plates.
Also how hard and expensive is it to find Air con units for RR's?? And does the heater work well. And what fuel consumption do they get around town when driving on LPG?
Sorry about all the questions but I've never had to deal with the RR body, just the running gear.

LPG is drop dead easy, if she is running all her original carbs etc
then you should be able to drop into your local gas supplier and pick
up a kit with the mixers then buy a kit off out of the trading post from an old falcon or somehting with a bigger engine then fit it all up and bobs your uncle, they run well on gas I get about 22L/100 around town and 17s on the highway

Are you running dual fuel RaginRover? If so then how many tanks of gas do you run per tank of petrol? What kind of head work do you need done to run just gas

I run my 60L tank down to nothing then swap to fuel for about 35L worth of unleaded which makes it a day or two a week on fuel vs 5 or 6 on LPG.
Seems to work pretty well as for the just gas setup I am unsure as to what needs to be done. There are some pretty cluey LPG guys on this forum so post in general 4x4 tech and you should get the answer you are looking for.
