im after a set of vented discs for my gq
i was told not to get slotted discs just to get vented
also will i need to get bigger calapers or not
also what pricers are vented disc that people have brought

I think u mean slotted or drilled, ventilated are your standard disk.
slotted are good, and not much dearer than std, dont bother with drilled.
if your disks are ok dont bother with slotted either, you'll be amased at the diffrence a new set of high quality pads make (ie high end bendix pads)

the GQ's that came out with the EFI TB42 had slightly larger front calipers which are often fitted as a brake upgrade.... direct bolt on IIRC and available from wreckers....winchin1 wrote:im after a set of vented discs for my gq

Remember the best discs for serious mud are plain oold vented as slotted and cross drilled rotors both crack with the rapid changes in temperate, and the slots/holes fill with mud and tend to destroy your brake pads pretty quickly. Wally (80UTE) wrote up his experiences on his 80 series if you want to do a search....

Not had any bad experiences with slotted, generally would say it helps to clean the crap out, brake pad choice does make a big difference, have had good sucess with lucas pads(better than lucas electricals) don't touch the drilled as I've seen some very bad cracking on street/circuit cars, to the point where the discs look as though they could shatter. One set was trashed in 20 laps at Winton in a supercharged EB 5.0 on a club day.

We have been running Dba slotted rotors and Bendix 's new 4wd pads for the last 12 months in the comp scene. You will notice a big differance in the time it takes to stop comparied to standard brakes. Rotors you should get for about $130-$150 ea and pads $65-$85 set. Repco in North Geelong are doing packages for $650. Includes 4 x rotors and 2 x sets of pads
I've been using the Bendix 4wd pads for years now but after chewing out the original rotors then the DBA slotted rotors I feel they are simply too harsh on the disc material.
I'm waiting on a set of rotors for the rear and I've already got a new set of DBA slotted front rotors ready to go on and I'm changing back to standard factory Nissan pads, I never had any trouble with them.

I put some of the slotted DBA rotors in the front of mine a few weeks back.
The guy at Repco only charged me trade, $87.00 for each rotor and gave me trade on the pads as well. A saving of around $95.00 all up (not sure why he gave such a discount, I didn't even ask for it!!)
The braking is far better than it ever has been and I am wrapped with the difference.

it dissiaptes heat and gasses from between the disk and the pad.
also, there are two types of " holed" rotors, drilled or cast.
the drilled ones are the ones that are very prone to cracking, Rotors with cast holes are much sturdyer.
