Narva Ultima 175 issues

Post by dank »

I've got two mounted up front and one bulb blew a little while back so I decided to replace both with the H4 130 watt blub instead of the standard 100 watt H3. Anyway it keeps blowing the 30 amp inline fuse at the relay. I've checked all the wiring and nothing seems out of place or earthing out....anyone have any ideas?

you,ve put to bigger globes in for the fuse rating. i cant remember the formula but it would be on the net for what size fuse and wire you need to run for bigger globes

The formula is watts divide by volts = amps.
So therefore 260 / 12 = 21.6 amps.

you will find that a 30 amp fuse is more than big enough, the problem will be when you re-install the new globes there is a silicon sleve which insulates the positive, if this sleve doesn't completely cover the terminal you will have a short.

dunno maybe they are H3 130 watters. I can't remember. I took my old globe in and matched it up to the new ones. THey fitted fine just blowing fuses.... Its possible its the silicon sleeve. Although i did tape up all the terminals....but it still may be shorting somewhere within the housing.

how many terminals come off the globe? H3 has 2 whereas H4 has 3 yes? H4 is hi/lo beam, whereas H3 is only hi or lo

All fixed. A bit more tape on the wires and connectors and it did the job. And they are h3 globes. Work well. Putting out as much light as the light force 240s now.
