Factory Option Codes in NH GLS

Post by burtbunch »

OK, got an NH GLS 2.5TDI. There are two option codes on the plate in the engine bay E52 and D62. There is also a warning sticker inside the drivers door on the body that warns about rotating lifted wheels on a vehicle fitted with an LSD. So, do I have an LSD? Can I tell by looking at the thing? As a pretty standard car I have cruised past many patrols and Cruisers up to the axles on the beach tracks so I am thinking that their driving sucks or I have some options that I didn't know about. If not can a locker be fitted to the IFS front end on my paj?

Fingers crossed,

Burty

D 62 refers to 5 speed manual transmission and E 52 is the 2.5 4cyl Turbo engine. D 60 is the option code for the LSD. If the warning sticker is a bright orange one well then chances are it has an LSD as most GLS models have them.

An easy way to tell is to jack the rear up from the diff and spin one wheel, if the other wheel turns the opposite direction then it is an open diff, if they both move the same way its LSD.

It is a bright orange sticker. So if it is a standard feature of GLS then it wouldn't have an option code on the plate would it as it's not optional? Is it only the rear diff that will be LSD? I got stuck on a muddy hill once and was surprised to see the front wheels spinning at a much slower speed than the back. I was in 4L Centre Locked.

Cheers

it would have been one of the front wheels slipping. the other wheel would be spining at the same speed as the rears
