I have heard these winchs are the goods, but never actually seen or know of anyone that has used one. I need a winch before we go on our trip; cant find a desent 2nd hand Warn and i dont want to buy a Ebay Chinese winch (saw one fail on the weekend, on its 1st attempt!). The Premier seems to come in at close to the right price, has external brake and low enough gearing.
Anyone using one ? Anyone NOT using one for any reason?

Re: Premier 9000lb Winch
I got a 10k warn Im selling.. Just serviced, complete with everything you need.... I only used dozen times if that.
I've been running a Premier since they come on the market in Aus. I have number 7. It has been flogged most weekends, and has been through hell and high water, literally.
I wouldn't have a problem in recommending them to anyone who is after a good quality winch. I compared them to the Warn when purchasing and found them to be on par or better. They have a better solenoid set up. Only the two instead of running four of them.
If I was buying another winch, my only choice would be the 9500XP Warn, or the Premier again.
Hope this helps,
Cheers

How can that be better? If one solenoid jams your winch could just run and run until it self destructs or injures someone?Hardcorr wrote: They have a better solenoid set up. Only the two instead of running four of them.

The hardest thing about owning a jeep is telling your parents you're g a y!!
Would hope that good maintenance would prevent solenoids from jamming. Been winching for years now and haven't had a solenoid jam yet.
Try fault finding a four solenoid set up and you only have one spare in the toolbag. You gotta work out which one is playing up and not working, trial and error works here. If memory serves me right from last time I had to replace a solenoid on a quad set up, the solenoids actually work together diagonally.
If you are using a winch harshly most of the time when you go out, I would be replacing solenoids at the first sign of them being temperamental. 99% of the time a solenoid won't just jam on, they will start playing up by not working.
