Fuel Consumption on mud tyres

Post by mccpijs4 »

I'm getting about 410km to 60L in my 91 3.0 V6 SWB pajero. Its on 33x12.5 BFG MTs which are wearing a bit low now. Looking to get some new tyres that look nice and meaty but am concerned about fuel consumption too.

Can anyone with a similar aged 3.0 SWB running on normal wheels, or other, tell me what fuel consumption they get in normal highway use?

Just want to know if I'm doing ok on the BFG's in which case I'll just get the same again.

cheers

Remember that your 410km isnt correct unless you have had the speedo corrected. So you economy wont be comparable with a stocker.

Good point - hadn't thought of that before. I reckon my speedo reads about 6% under (speed gate checker on the highway) , which means probably getting nearly 435km.

... which is about 500km for 70L.

Are your 31's muddies though?

I'm trying to work out how much having MT tyres is costing me compared to road tyres!
