what visible differences are there

what visible differences are there between the 2.4 diesel hilux motor, and the 2.2 diesel hilux motor, i have what i thought was a 2.4(2l) hilux, but having looked at a friends 2.2 motor, the only dirrerence is the position of the huge air filter box, the plates on mine say 2l motor is there any other difference?????

1L is 2.2 Ltr and 2L is 2.4 Ltr.

Look at the engine number which is just under the top radiator hose and thermostate housing. If it starts with L then its a 2.2 or if it starts with 2L then its a 2.4. 3L is a 2.8 and 5L is a 3.0.
