What 37inch tyres to get

After some advise from you guys running 37s. Looking to get a set that will be ok on the road and nice and soft in the bush, whether they be 15s or 17s. Just sick of canging tyres all the time. Some people say procomp some bfs and others mickey thompsons.

Denny i'm running pro comp, they seem to be good and run excellent on the road, but not sure how long they would last on the road as they are a soft compound XTC, not sure if they do a standard compound in 37's.

Thanks Paul, was going to call u but got stuck doin some paperwork once i got home.
What width are yours and on what width rims?
For some reason i really like the look of the bf crawler.
I might try source a 2nd hand set for now, there was aq set on 17s a while back.

hey man, i also have a 75 ute and wanna know how u plan on clearing 37 up front? masive guard chopping?
cos my 35's rub everywere

I run 37" bias claws on my troopy. Couldn't steer until i moved the axle forward about 25mm, then i chopped 40mm off the outer guards (25mm chop/15mm fold) and chopped the inner guard back to where it is bolted on (had to do this anyway to suit the outer guard trimming). Replaced inner with plastic. They still rub a little but nothing excessive. They also rub on the wings of the bull bar (late model ARB) on full flex, so i need to chop it back a bit. Running 10" rims which would help clearing the springs and remaining inner guard (haven't wound out the steering stops since i had 34" simex on 8" rims). There is evidence of plenty of rubbing on the steering box though (nice and shiny!)

No bodylift and my springs have been reset maybe +2"

Thank you, fellows for the advise.
As far as scrubbage, if i need to will chop guards if need be. The 35s {bf muddies} on 8inch rims and my 35pedes on 9inch beadkocks all cleared the guards by a good half inch. Running 2and a half springs extended shackles and 50mm bodylift. May need to go to a 3inch bodylift.
As far as gearing goes how does the troopy feel with the bigger rubber.
Cause then next thing il prob need reduction gears although 35s feel ok.

The gearing is pretty farked - 2nd gear becomes a lot more use-able on the road and 3rd is a good cruising gear until you get waaay out of town :D

Off road low 1st it too high for steep downhills (runs away) and 2nd is too high for rocky uphils.

Fuel usage is a fair bit worse than it was on 34's, but i rarely drive it 'slowly' (relatively speaking).

Keep in mind i'm running a completely standard 2h at the moment - hopefully a turbo will solve some of my uphill problems. But really, of course, gears are the only solution. I love the diff clearance though :cool:

37" Maxxis Creepies all the way.

Super strong tyre with bucket loads of grip in ANY terrain. I used to run them at 6psi with no beads and they held on without a drama.

I had 37/12.5/16

I love the BFG Crawlers looks .. and saw some videos and " looks " that perform nice in mud and pretty nice in rocks and on road .. overall tire.

I have a mate that have Creepy Crawlers and are tough but lot's ! and in the tire it recomend 15" wide wheels to properly run 'em .. my buddy run in 10" wheel and looks tight and with 10" can have a regular contact with the road ..

MTR it's also and overal option .. nice on road and rocks .. onlu really sucks in mud. :?

I keep on search of roadable tires like MTR but in 38" - 39" X12.5 max 13.5 wheel 15 :cry:

the other option could be MickyThompson Claw Radials,they have a
new power cross ply configeration in the walls to protect them more
from side wall damage,flex better than bias ply claws,& are road rated,
I cant say road legal,as I dont think any state allows that diametor
for road use,(but that is just a minor technicality,unless your caught)
I now compete on these in my feroza,37'x15' on15"x8" rims & staun
internal beadlocks,as external locks only hold 1 side of your tyre & are
illegal for road use,they performe like a BFG mud on road,but with the awsome off road caperbilities of the bias claw,contact your nearest
M/Thompson dealer,most of them can get you onto a set of hire bias
claws to try,this way,you dont have to take it as gospal what each
person says,you will know first hand

the speed rating is very low on the bf krawler ie 120 kph and I have see them come apart after a 2hr drive an tar . but it is a good comp tyre.

The Krawler would be my second choice of tyre in 37"...only cause I know what the Creepies are like first hand.

I had my 37s on an 8" rim. They tended to crown a bit at road pressure, but I had no problems driving at 100kph - well thats what the speedo said it was.

Good choice with the Krawlers. Take some pics of your truck with em on and let us know how they go.

Running Pro-comp Xterrain 37x12.5 and absolutely love them,it was really hard for me to make change at first,always ran Simex not that there is anything wrong with Simex but glad that that i did ,these Pro-comps are really responsive in the corners and reallly turn well for such a big tyre,would recomend them to everyone.

I personally dont believe that running these sort of tyres on the tar is any good for any of them,but i do know that the tread depth of the 37x12.5 to the 37x13.5 is 3mm difference in favour of the 12.5,it might not sound like much but its something

the lugs feel fairly soft, i can twist them a bit, but they dont feel anywhere near as soft and flexy as a sticky mickey

My understanding is that the 37"+ Procomps were using a softer compound than the tyres up to and including 35".

Madmac - similar experience to you. Mine definitely feel softer than a normal tyre but are no where near as soft as a friend's 37" and 40" sticky claws.

I originally got them when I had my GU coil cab and only got to do about 5000kms on them before I sold the ute and got my Jeep.

I only use them offroad on the Jeep and have done minimal kms with them so not really sure how they'll wear longer term. I'd expect the Jeep to be a little easier on the tyres than the GU was.
I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .

Have you had any problems with punctures? I too loved my pro comps, first in 35" then in 37". I loved their versatility in almost any terrain but then i had a run of punctures and am now thinking of going to BFG Krawlers.

Also, how have people found the longevity and wearing of their Krawlers?
Rangie, injected 4.6L, 35's, 8274, HID's, 6pt Cage, F & R Lockers...

What else turns you on? Drugs? Casual sex? Rough sex? Casual rough sex? I'm a docter, i need to know.

pro comp were running the same carcae M/Thompson, Cooper
& Dick Ceepeck (basicly the carcases are out of the same stateside
factory) so as far as side wall protection they were much simular
but now Micky/T has gone to the next level of protection for sidewalls
by adding its new power cross ply configuration,the new angled plys add
extra protection from puntures that go between the vertical plys & thus
limits slicing or tearing damage
