GU 2.8 oil seepage problem

Post by rob01 »

I have just noticed on my 98 GU 2.8 turbo Patrol that I have a slight oil leak or seapage on the passengers side under the manifold, it is on the small rubber pipe going to a small round canister and also around the seal of one of the big rubber hoses similAR TO THE BIG ONES RUNNING TO THE INTERCOOLER. there is a little bit of oil around the bottom of what I think might be the turbo housing. there is oils film on the chassis in that area as well, there is not enough oil to allow a drip to form just a wetness of black oil.

Does the intercooler radiator thingy and those big rubber pipes to and from carry oil mist as well as air, probably a bit vague for you experts but thats the best this novice can describe, any suggestions as to the cause.

Is that the turbo under the manifolds on the nearside (passenger side)/

Thanks everyone

if its what im thinking of then i think its normal. cant comment directly on the 2.8, but my pajero did the same thing.

do you have any pics of the other leaks you are talking about? might be easier to get an answer if you post up a pic

Thanks, I think I found the leak it appears to have been seapage from the big rubber hos coming from the intercooler the bottom clamp was a little loose since cleaning off and tightening its gone!
