Nissan GQ Wagon front end help
Nissan GQ Wagon front end help
Hi guys
I was just after some information (not negative) regarding an issue i have with the front end on my 4wd
I am talking about a 1995 Nissan Patrol Ti Wagon TB42e and recently fitted with new 6" dobinson springs, procomp shocks, superior engineering Adj panhards, 3rds drag link, 3rds tie rod, ES2000 Dampner,Castor plates to suit, new radius rod bushes Genuine from nissan, complete front hub rebuild, new front wheel bearings, new brakes, so virtually everything is new in the front end........
now my problem is i still have a wobble when you hit bad patches of road......
I have retightened everything including all the body lift bolts but it is still there!!!
Can anyone give me some advice so i can check it out so i can eliminate the source.....Also has anyone heard that the Superior adj panhard bushes fitted when new are soft and can cause this wobble?
Any help will be so ever greatly appreciated
Brad

If the panhard bushes are new....should be OK. I'd go get an alighnment
and check out the castor and camber figures......it's quite likely that the
castor plates aren't exactly right. When U go that high (6"), castor becomes
critical....chuck a winch/bullbar/batteries and six months of settling and
things will change again...thus the wobbles will reappear. The best advise
is to minimise lift in the first place.

Yeh mate mine is mounted from Panhard to Drag linkxenith wrote:is your es2000 mounted from panhard rod to drag link or to the chaisse i have both on mine now never get the shakes but found panhard rod to drag link worked better on mine
I am maybe thinking the Castor plates supplied with the 6 inch kit are incorrect as a mechanic looked at them today and said they looked like only 3 degree plates........

yeah sounds like castor issues to me.
get it checked idealy you want about +2-2.5 deg but i shouldnt be as bad as you explian unless you are in the -ve's
its also the perfect oppertunity throw the castor plates to the tip and get boxes or arms if it is castor.

Are we talking bumpsteer here ?
I have that problem also and I think my castor is OK. I think is due to the fact that my draglink is sort of diagonal after the lift instead of parallel to the floor as it came from factory. I've got OME Competition 5" suspension. I think I installed the front springs inverted (driver side on passsenger side) and now it's lower on the passenger side (in Panama driver goes on the left) I'm going to recerse the springs and maybe fit a trim packer. Then I'll re check the castor. MAybe fit some castor bushings to help the drop boxes. In the future I plan to mount a GU steering box with the nicer pitman, which will lower the draglink on one side and make it more horizontal.
