cheap chip for efi - any good?

Post by GQ Bear »

Found these performance chips on ebay for $32. They reckon 42HP gain from a 4.5l patrol.

Anyone tried one of these or are they just a rebadged hyclone? Would the 4.5 chip work on a 4.2l?

essentially its a resistor, used to trick the ecu into leaning out making more power and use less fuel...its a load of shit and risky too. leaning out the fuel without properly checking ratios and having the timing adjusted to suit is dangerous.

Theres a reason why its soo cheap.

Hmmmmmmm, thought it might be too good to be true. What problems can it cause? What if it was dynotuned after chip fitted?

problem is it is always sending a false reading, so if its tuned once the parameters change out on the road it may not be able to self adjust correctly.

Stay away mate do it right or not at all i reckon.
