X2 Grimbo; mate running what???
Options:
- Which race?
- What petrol?
- What gear oil?
- What tyres?
- What Fluffy Dice?
- What Flasher Unit (ooh blinkers again)?
- What Suspension?
- What Windscreen washer fluid?
- What radiator Coolant?

Just please be a little less vague in the question. "etc" is not the best term to use to in a thread starting post.

Try_me, you really take the cake for asking the same question twenteenbillion times.

I think you meant to say:

I have a 1.0litre. It's unfinished currently but I want to build it into a capable daily driver. It had a 4K corolla in it when I bought it, but I don't have an engineers for that so I don't quite know what to do. I don't want to spend months working on my car and then find out I can't register it. Gwagensteve keeps nagging me about that and it's goving me the sh!ts.

Anyway, what modifications can I do now to improve its capability that won't stop me getting it registered when I put it all back together.

And the asnwer is - Nothing until you speak to an engineer because right now you have a garden ornament. You currently have no way of getting get it registered because you don' t have a legal engine. If you want to reg it without talking to an engineer, then start looking for a running 1.0 motor to put in it.

Then you can start modifying it.

1st mod should be a set of transfer gears, 2" B: and 31's. It will drive fine with the 1.0 once it's geared properly so you can just get out and drive it.

I think i know what he means.

Mines a 1990 WT stock engine and diffs but rear is welded. !ltr t/case and RUF with modded shock mounts. 31 muds on 15x8

its ok off road for what i drive and the welded rear is a help but it aint no speeding limo on the black stuff
Total cost to date is still under $4500

cheers buddys

steve the car is engineered with the engine i already spoke to the RTA about it they said its fine engine numbers etc match certs so engine is all good

but yes for now might think of 2" OME springs with shackles and 2" inc BL with Transfer gears and 31's that i already have to go onto my 15/7's with lock rights front and rear

not to keen on the Spring over for now but will see how things go might still stick with it

cheers nick

thanks for the imput

Excellent - that's what I needed to know- now I don't feel like I am wasting my time advising you on setup because I know you can reg the car.

OK. To start with just throw some OME Dakar springs on it and OME shocks.

You might be able to RWC the car with a 2" BL. If so, buy a just cruisin' BL and throw that in.

that'll get you 31's no problems which will be the limit of the 1.0 transfer and 4.11 1.0 diff gears from a gearing point of view.

Fit the 1.3 cv's out of the NT front axle and weld the rear diff after RWC. Get out and drive it with the 31's on it. It will be plenty capable.

If you want, go straight to 6.4:1 transfer gears - you have a 5speed so it will cruise fine but you don't want to have to buy gears twice.

To go beyond that it's a big step regardless of what you do. you will need to look at track width, going to 1.3 centres so you access to gears and lockers, and a SPOA or a fair bit of body work to go beyond 31.

This guy has asked a simple question, although he didn't quite ask it the right way.

Cheap 31" tyres $500
Shackles and re drilled perches $30
Welded rear $30
Guard trim $30
Gears $1,300
Engine service parts $100

$1,990 on top of the car cost for a fun play toy.

Then the sky is the limit. My suspension will cost more than the car described above, that takes into account the parts and the car
