Claw question

This happen to one of my 35 inch claws today on my wife
My question is do you think that there may of been a fault with the tyre to do this
They have about 35%-40% tread left

Looks like it has been run at too high a speed with too low a pressure.
At least that is one cause of what you pictures show.

Its your wife you shouldnt be happy with. That tyre's been driven on flat. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work that out.

Is there melted rubber inside the tyre? looks like rubber dust. There would be a good bit in there if what struth says happened.

But by pics its either what struth said or she ran over something big and sharp. But more likely low pressure high speed.

Had a BFG mud do the same thing. High speed low pressures is what did it to mine. Oh and they where at approx 50% also.

They run at 30psi which I always run in them
No no-one was hurt luckily but she was doing 110km/h when it happen

Mine where at approx 25psi. Which is fine for some decent speeds. Maybe have a look around the carcass for a puncture. As I think mine may have had one, causeing a slow leak. But I couldn't confirm it.
But we where doing 110-120km/hr at the time. So by the time we pulled up it had shredded itself. Luckily for me. It was a rear tyre and the Paj that was right behind me seen the brake lights in the dust.

I read at some place in the web ( maybe not a true info ) that Claws are designed to run at low press found it when I ran my 33X13.5 and it claim ran it at 22 PSI ..

ive seen mates claws 1 is a 33 other is a 35 both have huge bubbles in sidewall. seen and changed before they got as bad as yours but i think they just havnt get enough sidewall strength

get onto the mickey T distributer in your state and get them to have a look. love or hate the tires, they give brilliant customer service. when i chipped up my brothers brand new set, Ryano off here arranged for the SA distributer to come to my work when it suited me to inspect them to be sure it wasn't a manufacturing fault, even tho i was pretty sure it was due to some sharp rocks while wheeling.

personally i loved the tires while i had them, and the way they treated their customers, ensures i'll only ever buy mickey T if i ever need tires other than swampers.

The vavle came out as I run heavy duty tubes in them as well
I love the tyres too therve been great up until this
I'm preety sure they wouldn.t of been flat as they were only pumped up a week ago after going to the snow
Its more a pain as I cant just buy one as the other 3 only have 35-40% tread left so I know have 3 spares
Not sure what to do know

I would agree with the above in that it appears to be from running low pressures at high speeds. Having said that Ive run my 35in Claws with 20psi continiously at 120kmph for hours on outback dirt roads without incident.

Im sure if you asked your missus wheather the vehicle seemed to sag to one side a short time prior to explosion she would say yes.

I thick radial claws are CRAP, cRap crAP. No lateral grip, even on fast dirt, don't clean well in the mud at all and are bad on wet asphalt aswell. but they seem ok on dry bitumen and reasonably quiet. but i'd have more faith in a BF muddie than a radial claw both on and off road.

i would suggest that this style of post is not quite needed. Have your opinion by all means but do not go over the top.... when the tyres have clearly proven themselves as being good good good.... maybe just a better choice of words....

my 35 claws handled well, no louder than an mtr... needed approx 5 less lb in sand for that floating feeling and cleaned well particularly against the mtr but i have seen the bfg perform well..

i personally would have the claw again without hesitation

and yes if your in the mighty brivegas head fourby's marooka way and speak to our resident rubber guru ryano

the 33's i had were the only tires i've had that came in close to 33 inches, they were better than any radial i've driven in the mud, and handled better, especially in the dry than a bFG all terrain. sure they won't have the grip of a set of pirrelli P-zero rosso's, or the mud clearing ability of a simex, but neither of those tires fit the bill.

Side by side with a set of bald 33"kumho's I had on my tractor, RR with 6.2 chev and diff locks and......

They were an inch shy, the claws were no more than 5,000k old, and that's giving them the benefit of the doubt

My opinion only, but I've owned and driven extensively on more than just 2 sets of tyres

I have also owned radial claws and found them to be great. They were not real good on gravell though. The main reason people say they are no good is they are to lazy to air down in the bush as reccomended by the manufacturer.
