turbo diesel

Post by UAV »

hey everyone

its been a while since ive been on here, but i am looking at getting a 2003-2005 2.8td single cab triton for work and a bit of touring. i was wondering what the engines were like for performance, reliability, economy and all that.
Any input would be much appreciated
thanks

Mine's an 02 so it's aftermarket turbo, but I just thought I'd mention that I can get 8.9L /100km out of it
I'd love to be able to comment on an '03 onwards, but I've heard they're a powerhouse!

I run the 2.8td in the paj. Get around mid 11 l/100 around town and 13-14 on a run pulling the camper trailer. Engine seams reliable with good power and torque. From what i have read you should go with the td in the triton as the non td's are apparently a slug.
Hope this helps.

Iv'e got a 98 non-turbo 2.8 and it's a bloody SLUG. Hates hills with a passion. Today got a price to fit an aftermarket (Denco) turbo kit too it for about $3000. guess what I'm saving up for ;)

However if you are poking about flat stuff it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but try to hit a hill with a little bit of a load and it dies.
