Just doing some routine checks and noticed that on my rear diff the dome on the back of the pumkin has cracked at the weld
It's from cracked just over quater way around (12:00 to about 4:00)
Is this hard to weld back together and how would i go about it

pull the centre out clean it then weld it with some power paint and put back together , you can also brace/gusset/reinforce at the same time to stop it from happening again
Not having a go, are you SPOA? Iv'e seen an SPOA car do this before but not a SPUA car. I know of SPUA cars shearing the long side axletube though (cape york)
They weld up alright but you will really want to do it with a clean stripped housing. Doing it with oil in the crack will make for a pretty manky weld that is unlikely to seal.

I think it is a leverage/torque thing. I rebuilt a SPOA car here in Vic and the housing was cracked in exactly the same place.
It had noticable "twist" under acceleration due to the torque winding up the springs. It hink these two issues are related.
As I said, not casting aspersions about SPOA vs SPUA, but it's just an observation.
NSW vs VIC? - bugger that, how about we both kick a Queenslander
