I've had pro comp shocks on my gu ute for two years and they still handle like new .Done numerous weekend trips, fraser island and a two week trip to cape york and i push it pretty hard. I also had a set in my old gq wagon that went great hence the reason i put them in my ute .

Flex would depend on the coils you have in your SWB? The beauty about Procomp shocks is they have a large range to choose from so you can match the shocks to your needs. Procomp shocks are valved a bit softer then most other shocks which off road people like but they still give you great control for on road. Perfect for the shorty really because you don't want to go to firm for the shorty.
I have a special on some Procomp shocks so let me know what you are after otherwise check it out at www.suspensionstuff.com.au

I previously had 3 inches under my patrol running the ES9000 procomps and they were brilliant! Great, smooth ride and great offroad handling
I now have a 6 inch + 3inch body running 32 inch ES9000 shocks (dobinsons springs) and still wouldnt look back
Smooth, Quiet and reliable at an awesome price

I agree that the Extremes are good but do you have a LWB or a SWB. I believe you need a softer shock for a shorty for it to ride comfortable.ol faithful wrote:mate they are great but..
If you want better get efs extreme.
i did the upgrade about a year age and would never turn back

Had Procomp Explorers. Pulled them off coz Nick Mannell would not pass them for engineering. You tell me why... (and on went tough dogs....)
Front two Pro comps explorer shocks are now my dual steering dampers.... Coz I couldnt be bothered spending more money.

Tough Dogs in my opinion are valved a bit too stiff for a SWB plus there is a good chance they might leak. The strength themselves no doubt would be stronger than Procomp. I rate EFS X-tremes way better than Tough Dog.bushy555 wrote:Had Procomp Explorers. Pulled them off coz Nick Mannell would not pass them for engineering. You tell me why... pro comp shocks..depends on the rest of ur suspension. pro comps tend to give a boaty feel on rd.. i got a dual cab, with big bore tough dogs, n they r awesome, also u can hook a rancho in cab adjuster to rancho rs 9000 and tough dog adjustables...makes drivin on and off rd so much easier and comfortable. i'd look more before buyin pro comp shocks for everyday use aswell as off road
