Hardtops are they all the same?

Post by Fire4FX »

Hi, I've got a Suzuki Sierra 1997 HT. I had purchased it at auction as a repairable write-off which had been rolled & the entire body needs replacing.

Just wondering if an earlier model e.g. 1987 hardtop body would be suitable for replacement? They look fairly the same to me apart from the older models barn door & hinges appear to be slightly different.

Or does anyone out there have a HT Zook they are chopping up?

Partslocator.com.au is ok but kind of unreliable. I went to check out a 4WD wrecker the other day at Revesby, NSW. When I rang they said they did have a HT Zook available & when I got there I was told they only had a ST version.

Also, does this website allow the public to offer their zooks for sale on here?

Thanks guys, I'm a noob

Is your 97 coil sprung? I think 97 was the changeover year.

any sierra body will fit with varying degrees of jiggerypokery. All the mounts will physically line up but there will small issues to deal with.

Beware though a couple of issues:

1) coilers have a different inner guard design to clear the coil/shock towers I don't think these will clear if you use a leaf tub. A coil tub has a different cowl shape so while the guards can be swapped the bonnet won't line up spot on.

2)Coilers have side intrusion bars in the doors and a few other small safety changes.

3) As per the post above if you want it to be legal, have a chat to an engineer, there may be ADR issues to deal with, but it will depend very much on how the codes are interpereted as to what you can do legally

Obviously, if you just want to build a sh!tter for the bush - don't let any of that bother you.
