I am currently running 200mm shackles and IFS rears n a wide track diff but its only a matter of time before the boys in blue pull me over. I understand that you can get a coil rear end engineered in QLD so am looking at going this way instead.
I have searched the forums and still have a few questions:
I see people are using Surf or 4runner or Prado rears - what are the pros and cons of each or are they all much the same? (remembering i want this engineered)
Do I need to replace the standard fuel tank? (its a dual cab)
Once completed does the car have less or more body roll or is this totally dependent on the springs/shocks used etc...

Which rear coil axle for a lux?

I could be wrong but I thought QT would not allow you to run leaf front with coil rear due to the different spring rates causing the front to be very stiff compared to the rear especially on corrigated roads.
(waiting to be shot down)
I will be pissed if this is not so cause I could go leaf SAS !!

I have read on here that a leaf SAS can be engineered in QLd but it is harder to do. Maybe do a bit of a search Doug??Dougster wrote:I could be wrong but I thought QT would not allow you to run leaf front with coil rear due to the different spring rates causing the front to be very stiff compared to the rear especially on corrigated roads.

As for the topic, it is easier to engineer the surf/4 runner rear as long as all factory components are used. At least this is what I was told but mine is IFS. You will also need to source a 4 runner or surf tank as the Hilux one will hit.

I thought I had Boof, talking to engineers that "might" consider doing it cause from my experience there are some out there who say "go and find someone who has done it before" and are not interested in discussing it any further, this includes people like Superior Engineering.
It's the mating of coil rear to leaf front that's the issue as I undertand it.
