Re: KAYMAR REAR BAR FOR GQ
the photos on Kaymar site are fuckin bulky....
Keep an eye on Ebay, I just scored a GU one for $1500 - 6 mths old! Small dint in one side.

I recently scored a GQ Kaymar Bar (no swing-arms) on Ebay for $330
They are mighty strong, but does leave my 149L long range tank even more exposed without the hayman reese towbar under there
The Kaymar towbar is even higher again so if you tow regularly a bigger dropped tow tongue is a definate.
Would go nicely with chopped rear quarters and extended end plates like the GU one.
I just like having the larger rear step plate for the roof rack access, the swing-arm for my 33's (doesn't allow Kaymar bar with 33' tyre on the door mount - well fits but tight)... and I'm chasing a Jerry Can Arm for the LHS being a guzzling petrol.

does anyone have any photos of a gq with body lift and kaymar bar fitted cause mines got a 2 inch body lift. i know kaymar can supply a new chequer plate step to suit the 2 inch body lift to fill the gap but that doesn't actually lift the bar to suit the lift. so the only thing that worries me is that the side plates would look crappy on the kamymar. any photos would be great

I'm sure Bazzles red Mav has or had the Kaymar Rear Bar with a bodylifted cab?... has the different tread plate and doesn't look out of place, not sure on the amount of bodylift.mudmav wrote:does anyone have any photos of a gq with body lift and kaymar bar fitted cause mines got a 2 inch body lift. ...
...Eventually I'd like to cut the rear quarters and integrate more side protection bars with a fuel tank bash plate using the same mounting points as the standard tow bar, not really a fan of doing a body lift and 3" Lift does what I want for a touring compromise.bogged wrote:you can get the mounts modded if you have a body lift which will raise the tank up more.. failiing that, sell the tank to me
I have a simmilair to Kaymar style bar made by Smithies Outback Gear, that was built around qtr cut, keeping standard hayman reece and making strong as recovery point.
Greg's own one also incorporates pivots.
I can get photos tonight and e-mail if you like
Lighter, protects qts and takes the weight of the car when it is on it's side.

I suck at Photobucket, but have emailed pics to GU Johnno and Bogged to post up.
I will also will have a s/hand rear ARB Bar for sale next week on a wreck I am getting. When I have it I will post photos and pricing. Smithie could lift that for body lift if required also.
My Bar has been on for almost 3 years and has coped a lot of abuse.
I just remove the tongue out of the towbar when off road. A lot of people complaiin about the depature angle but it has never held me up. Smithie even came 3rd at Cliffhanger with a towbar on.
