But saying you have Mickey Thompson tyres instead of Kumhos is atleast worth and inch or two. :lol:

OK if by your (apparently) very experienced knolledge of M/T radials,
what do you run now?? on what sort of vechicle?? & roughly how much
would this rig weigh?? & under what conditions??? & how have they
performed for you???
I hope im not coming across sounding like a smart ass,I am just wandering that after so much dissapointment, what have you come up with now!!
I personaly run claws,have tried simex, swamper, maxis & for my rig,
the claw suited it best, not saying there was anything wrong with these brands,just that they didnt suit my rig,some of these brands I lituraly had to take the valve stems out to make them bag, I now run 37"radials as
OH SIGH, I belive there not dooing bais in this size any more,but my comp pressures are 12psi front 7psi rear,& as I mentioned for me there good

They were on an 88 RR with bar, winch, duel batteries, 6.2 chev, front and rear lockers, it was my girly car at one stage, just general high country, take me to work stuff

Currently have a set of MTZ's and ET's both in 35's

how are you finding the MTZs, M/T wanted me to run them this year at OBC
but with not much time to test before, I just went with what I knew..
they look real good as a all rounder,& would probably throw them on my
(girly) car, as it only dose very limited offroad,about 90% road 10% other
& used as my tow rig

Excellent on all the things I thought the radial claws sucked on, wet asphalt, fast dirt roads and all general stuff, I'm going back to 1 4x4, well I got a 4x4 ute as my work hack now, but it only runs 32"BFG muds and these are just summer/general and simex's for play

I run radial claws offroad and well don't have a problem with them except on wet rocks. In the mud they are animals! But i'm going away from mud driving so they don't really fit their intended use as well as i'd like. I give them a hammering at times and well their is very little damage and wear to the tire. I certainly wouldn't say their the worst tire out there.

Each to their own though i guess.

Everyone has their own love for a tyre. I was in awe of the claws about 5 years ago when they were becoming big up here. I envied for a set but at the time couldn't afford them. I had to stick with my 33/12.5 BFG Muds.
One of the blokes I was driving with then was running them on a car that was set up identically to mine. Twin lockers, lifted 80s with all the bars and wants. We could compare tyres apples to apples as we were driving the same tracks. Actually, he was an experienced driver and I was still learning.
After seeing how they perform to a mudder, I never ended up buying a set.
An eye opener to me was climbing about a foot high clay edge at a 45deg angle, and the claws went up one by one on the front, but then the rear end would slide across until both were biting at the edge then climb up.
Don't get me wrong, I think that in a straight line climbing hills, or in mud with a lot of horsepower, they are a good tyre, we just do a lot of slippery side slopes and they are don't have adequate sideways traction.

i've got 33" MTZ's on my lux absolutely love em' was going to get radial claws but after 3 of my mates had em and hated em after a few months i thought i'd try the MTZ and i'm very happy with em.

like i said, i was wondering what you'd come up with now that did all that and more? i've tried BFG muds, all terrains, simex centipedes, hancook muddies, swampers, and desert duallers, and the claws did the road better than all the above, and the offroad better than all the radials above

Me personally? only the claws offroad and dualers onroad. I'm over dualers. I've had 3 decintergrate on me. But one of my mates runs MTZ's another runs BG Muddies, and so on. And we'd do comparisons to give a rough idea on how each tire performs.

I think my next set would be some sexy 35" centipedes.

I will agree that that claws don't give much side slope grip. Found myself sliding around abit on the weekend. Mind you, in a straight run, just plant the go pedal and they clean themselves soo well and take you everywhere in the slosh.

i could feel that they slipped a little on side slopes, but it never was enough to get me in trouble, a slight line adjustment was all it took.

this is in a shorty with a rear locker, so already not a side slope king
