IFS HILUX SWAP

Post by liamb »

Plan:
2000 ifs hilux was thinking of putting a sas converstion in it once the taxman pays me some money but after reading about all the hassles and the difficulties fo gaining more flex and articulation out of an ifs hilux and trying to keep it legal the idea came into my head of just finding an older hilux say a 94 or something like that which would not have ifs?

The Question:
is this viable? is the components and suspension setup of an older hilux better than a newer ifs hilux?

The Question V2.0
The older hiluxes run leaf springs front and rear correct? would upgrading these and modifying the suspension all round give me a better ride compared to ifs? say parabolics or a decent leaf spring setup? with some better shocks than the standard ones?

if this is a stupid idea then just let me know and i will knock the idea on the head but i just thought it would work rather than mucking around with getting expensive mods to my ifs?

what kind of model and year would i be looking at here aswell? i haver read the sr5 had ifs in the earlier models?

any help much appreicated.
