Ford Crossflow starting issue (Nissan G60)

Post by Swerve »

Going a bit mad here and need some help.

My Nissan G60 with a Ford Crossflow (XD) on gas and has a buggered alternator. Anyhow have still been moving the car around the drive and charging the battery as need be.

The other day I noticed the thermo fan wasnt working as well. So I started looking at this. Ended up working ok after i cleaned the contacts on the relay box/ temp box or whatever the thing is.

Then the thing wouldnt start and I had a funny clicking noise coming from the engine bay. Then after 30 minutes realised I had knocked it over to petrol and the clicking noise was the fuel pump. The thing only runs on gas as the petrol isnt tuned properly. Anyhow put it back onto gas and tried again.

Turn the key and nothing happens, the starter dosent even seem to engage ? Tried manually forcing the starter to engage by shorting it our with a spanner, but only a small click. Then thought that maybe the battery was low and why it wouldnt engage. Just finished stealing the battery from the GU and still no luck.

I'm guessing if the starter will not engage it is either

A- stuffed starter motor
B - Seized engine (possible as the thermo fan had not been running).

Just going to get some mates over to help tow it on the street and try and jump start it. If this works I'm guessing my starter is routed, this also may relate to my issue a few months ago.

Finially convinced the wife to tow me out of the drive.

She clutch started and spluttered alot. I'm guessing this was from the fuel being pumped in earlier.

She clutch started and the thermo fan is working. Will take her for a drive tomorrow to dry up any moisture and see how we go. I really don't want to change the starter and alternator.
