Is their any benefit on fitting 3" shocks on 2" springs. Will this give me better artictulation ? On a GU wagon

if the shock is too long you will have dramas with losing compression. unlikely with only a 1" longer shock, but its something too look for.

best bet would be to do fit the springs, then hold a shock in place and check its extension. nothing worse than shocks too short, trust me, i know

I already have 2" dobinsons springs in there. I was just to tight at the time to get the shocks. So been running original for the past year.love ke70 wrote:best bet would be to do fit the springs, then hold a shock in place and check its extension. nothing worse than shocks too short, trust me, i know

how much travel do you get before the shock bottoms out?
i was getting 20mm with a 4" lift and 2" shocks. so it was falling off speed bumps, made for a very harsh ride.
what you can look at doing is disconnecting shocks and dropping the diff to a point where the spring is just captive still, measure that point, and use that as the extended length of shock you want.

I could get you Procomps at 675mm extended to 405mm compressed, that's centre of eye to centre of eye. I would say it would be a little too long but no harm finding out. The drivers side coil would be a little longer then the passenger so be careful there.
