5th gear

Post by patrol man »

Hi all, A Mate is looking at buying a 99 GU 4.2 turbo diesel, I am wondering what year did the 5th issue start and when was it revised, Cheers Phill.

Dave in our club has a 99 GU TD42T and his 5th gear crapped itself out, not sure when they fixed it.

he got out of it cheap, wreckers want over $700 for a GU 5 speed. he got the gears and shafts from a GQ 5 speed put into the GU,

I had it happen to my 2000 GU 4.2td. Nissan replaced 5th with the later version which is supposed to be stronger. Not sure how replacing it with the old style from a GQ would help?
