Center bearing replacement Hilux -rear propshaft

I have to replace the center bearing on the rear propshaft of my YN67 Hilux for a RWC. Its got heaps of side and up and down movement but doesnt vibrate when driving.

Whats the procedure for changing it? Where should I source the bearing from?

Ripco walkers auto pro should stock them if not they'll be able to get them. Why not go to a 1pc shaft Means you'll never have to replace a center bearing.

while you're at it get yourself a greasable one and it'll last you twice as long specially if you're mudding or crossing creeks regularly.

Don't waste your coin on centre bearings just go a 1 piece shaft
and eliminate it all together

What models had a 1 piece shaft?

I bought one off e-bay and got all of 3 months out of it before it was stuffed again, apparently you should go genuine. I went for the straight shaft to eliminate the bearing, works well.

Find a place that does driveshaft work and they'll be able to make you one. You just get the rear of your old one re tubed longer

what would be a reasonable price to get this done ?

Last one that a mate had done was $100 but thats mates rates so say around 150 180 something like that only a stab in the dark but

usally $300, $100 for the seamless tube, $200 for 2 cuts, rewelding and balancing.

I agree. One piece is the go. The early models had one piece shafts but u will need to cut it down a touch from memory and change transfer and rear diff flanges, or alternatively make yours into a one piece, use a bit heavier guage tube so it can handle rock scrubbage a bit better.

Those of you who run the one piece tail shaft, do you encounter issues with hitting it offroad? I thought the idea of the 2 piece one was to stop it getting bent. He wants to go 2 piece with a spacer block on the bearing housing to fix the tailshaft angle, any thoughts?

The way My fathers project is going, probably gonna need custom shafts made anyway.

If you want one, i have a complete centre shaft with good bearing and unis you can have for $10
