Yeah I'm on to it Rudes.... just sussing out Chucky and earning browny points with the girls to get a leave pass.. OR.... Were actually thinking i might navi and Lizzie drive and Chucky navi in his car (Re email) and Tarn drive his car... How cool would that be, winning a navrun with two chicks drivingNavRun wrote:waiting for your's Ruffy?

hey Ruffy, this is one of the few navruns where the 4wd will be dead dead easy, perfect opportunity to bring the females and kids to enjoy the bush and the history associated with this area.

It sould be fun anyway. If it wasn't such a drive we would be there. We have got the NSW navrun not long after. But just remember it is alright to have the girls in charge sometimes!!!!!!Ruffy wrote:Woooo up there Pete... I said the girls 'driving'.... Theres nothing to serious up that way.. All terrains would be fine. In fact probably more beneficial i reckon. Hobzee was up there this weekend. See wha he has to say during the week. I reckon if you took simex you'd be wasting them.kb2 wrote:Hi guys thinking of doing the Navrun in Bendigo i was wanting some opinions on the type of tyre needed to do the event?

TYres n stuff
Hey guys and the gals with Ruffy ...
Been there done that and all set up ready to go. The go on the terrain is "very easy". The tracks were dry and dusty even. No ruts and no steep hills. Go the all terrains and save the big tyres. Most will do the entire event in 2wd ....
But I can't help my self, can I!!! All the dams and water points have water in them. Me thinks it would be good to get a Navrun Pic in the drink ... Bad move. We have a pic of me winching out and thank goodness for eldest sons .. he even calls "clear winching".. That one wont be in the notes except the notes we hand out to Ruffy and Hottie...
Anything Subaru upwards will be capable enough. No need either for scratches. Tracks have had little use but otherwise in pretty good nic.
The routine will be pics on Saturday with some tricky nav to keep the Ruffy nuts pre-occupied but on the whole the majority will be gettable. On Sunday you will have 2 navigation courses and you will be pleased to learn there is no reverse stick maps... the bane of ATOC's existance... But bring a compass.
Base camp is in Sally's (Pete Lorenz) farm at 394 9 Mile Rd Rushworth. Terry will be there with catering Saturday night and Sunday b'fast. We will have a flashing light at the gate. Rudes will email all the details to the attending Navsters.
Rudes informs me that we have about 15 teams = 30 cars with talk of a few more teams. Probably cap it at 20 teams so only 5 teams available.
It's gonna be fun fun fun

update
Here we are, half way through. It's 10pm Sat night and there are 5 rip roaring bon fires. Everyone enjoyed the day. Navigation was harder than expected and no one got more than 80%. Some people were still in camp 2.5 hours plotting before heading out.
Driving was so easy that even the land rover came back in one piece, but having said that 1 car had to winch free .... RUFFY ...
Tomorrow there are combinations of stick maps, written directions, projected points and picture sticks maps ... a bit like stick mags...
By for now.

Hey All... We're back, Unpacked, showered, fed and ready for bed..
Congratulations to Smithies Outback (muttering obscenities under my breathe)
Congrats to all who attended. As Hobzee said the driving was a walk in the park.. Yes we did have to be winched.. But i wasnt driving I was navi!!
That was a good area. Heaps of unmapped tracks. Nav was good, food was good, company was good.
Definite highlight was Rudi's dad, Peter, getting himself pissed silly on a bottle of whisky
Thanks to Stu (dogbreathe48) and Ad's for teaming up. They managed to fix most of my mistakes . Cheers guys
Thanks to terry roberts and his crew for the tucker As always the grub the good.
All in all another well organised Navrun..
Good to see lots of noob's there too..
There was one rollover... in a 40km/h Zone
Cheers Dan

Had a great time for our first family Navrun event. Great organization, lots of fun and great food!
It was an interesting area to drive around. Plenty of old mining sites etc..
Thanks to our navy Alberto (great work!) and our 2nd vehicle "Kill Bill & Wally", couldn't of done it without them and look forward to the Rubicon Navrun....!

As with others we had a great time. The tracks weren't spectacular but i think we made the most of of them. But the dust , I'm still picking crusties out of my nose!
Nav had a few 'tricks' that saw us touring around way off track for a few hours but we got a grip eventually
Organization was fantastic, camping area was good and company was top notch.
Thanks to all involved in organization, all competitors and to Ruffy for teaming up!
-Stu
p.s. the car was red

Yes Doodle Boy is a hard man when it comes to scoring... I would have given the reds but then that was almost all of you so would have made very little difference.
Yes we successfully rolled a car with a 40klm speed limit. That same car also crashed into a tree the day before and was in the only team caught speeding .... twice at that I hope all is good with the car situation and that those beaut projectional headlights get transplanted into the next rig ... GQ's are pretty cheap these days and handle better than leaf spings.
On the whole everyone did a great job. Well behaved eve. Thanks go to Sally for the property and Pete for the Dunny and for giving us Sally and for the Bolle sunnies (2nd prize). Thanks also to Jason at Travel Lite for the 1st prize drawer system and as always thanks to Terry for the grub.
Sally said it's the first time she has had a mob camping there and the coppers dont get involved...
Onya Smithies Outback (Bundy 4x4 and Hottie)
- Gees a girl driver won and a girl driver came second. Car'n fellas what's going on! Onya Mrs Bundy 4x4 and Mrs Ruffy ...

Thanks Rudi, Hobzee and everyone I had a great weekend From a Navi's point of veiw it was awsome, a good challenge (for the part we did anyway). I was in the team that rolled, in the other car.
Will got home fine, ended up driving it all the way. No one hurt at all so all good there but the car's a wreak... I smell a GQ on the way...
see you all next time, Tom

Trenchy needs you more than he realises
Who else is going to throw a tarp over him when he konks out at night ??
And you must really luv him to put up with the snoring !!! We often hear it down here at Somerville and I believe the Port of Melbourne have to alert approaching ships.
We luv ya too Trenchy, even if you do like Rangies and bar tread tyres...
