Vitara bodywork ideas.

Post by rustyvit »

Howdy people, I'm new to outerlimits and looking for ideas. I drive a 91 5 door vitara mostly used as a work hack, lots of beach work and just general smashing about. The bodywork is begining to look real ordinary, rust in the lower doors, hail damage down the left side and metalic paintwork is dead.

My number 1 concern is being picked up by an overzealous cop and getting an unroadworthy on it, so I'm looking for ideas to dress it up and make it look better. clearly I'm not about to spend huge $ on it at a body shop so i'm looking at cosmetic stuff to fool the eye, flares, paneling, alternative colour combinations etc.

I was all for doing the full camo job on it but have been informed by the family that non of them will be seen dead in it if I do.

Any ideas?

All the more reason to I say...
Just get a body shop to rub it all back, bog the doors or buy some off a wreck, and cover it in etch prime. That way people will just think it's a work in progress :P

Flares will look wrong unless you have the wider rubber to go with it. How bad is the rust in the doors? Is it something that you could fix or maybe pick up some cheap replacements from a wrecker or ebay. You could use herculiner or similar from the bodyline down for two tone look and it would take the knocks too as well as hiding any flaws in your rust repair.
