The last two weeks ive been driving on the highway to tafe and in the last couple of days there has been a noticable decrease in power accross the rev range. it started as a flat spot about 2500 rpm. it seems to be getting worse each day too. the idle speed has also dropped about 500 rpm and the auto choke doesnt come on very well when its cold either.
any ideas?

Engine suddenly lacks power
Could possibly be the shaft bushes worn out and the butterflies starting to jamn, you may find if it is this that some days it seems okay then it doesnt idle then it does....
You can check movement by grabbing each end on carby shafts for sideways movement.

check your water levels, Sometimes if the water level is a little low the auto choke plays up, it seams like its not coming on but it stuffs around with your idiling.
or
check your fuel filters and try emptying your fuel bowl,
Could just be some shit stuck in your jets

I hate going to weddings because all the grandma's used to poke me in the ribs saying you're next, you're next. They've stopped doing it since I started doing it to them at funerals.
