Info on internal / external regulators

Post by kranked_dirt »

Just in the process of putting a 1UZ lexus motor into my 40 series landcruiser and am wondering what to do with the voltage regulator for the alternator?

The original setup with the 2F motor was the alternator had an external regulator on the firewall. I am assuming the newer lexus alternator would have an internal regulator? - is there any way to tell? & if it does have an internal would it just be a matter of unplugging and disgarding the external one i have at the moment.
went there dressed up, came back messed up
