After developing some fairly ugly looking rock rash on my diff housings in recent times, I'm starting to think that some sort of protection in these areas could be a worthwhile addition to my currently stock looking sierra.
Has anyone got this sort of plating already in place? If so, how about giving us all a look at how it works / is mounted.
In addition, if anyone has got a flat sliding plate covering their transfer case i'd love to see this too
What i was really hoping for was a plate that covered the entire area between the chassis rails and would allow you to 'slide' over things... Similar to what Jason Paule (i think) is running on his tube buggy.

Only prob i can see with this mount plate is that ya gunna have to run some extra lift to cope for how far it hangs down beneath the transfer seems like bout 40 or more mm .................. loooks beeef though

I dont know it looks to me like it sits at the drian plug height so it is only slightly lower than the case itslelf (Lowest point)
True point taken on closer inspection you are right prob max of 5-10 mm under ..............then again i guess there isnt much stoppin ya makin a custom to similiar design and raisin it up if you ran a b lift
But memory is farked and i dont remember much of the under belly of my coily
I lowered my chassie rails by 25mm by welding 1"x 2" box along the bottom but before doing so set nuts into it so a flat plate could be put right though Il try find a pic.
6mm plate under the whole belly of the zook will end up weighing a tonne!
i would make a frame up with a skin of about 3mm. That should be plenty strong enough. If/when the skin is damaged rip it off the frame and put on a new one.
I have been planning on making something for the bottom of my zook, just been too busy fabbing and modifying other bits and pieces of it
I like the idea of the "bucket style" t\case skid as it takes up alot of torque load that would otherwise be in the rather soft alloy of the suzuki T/Case ..
along with beefed up mounts ... (may need to beef the mounts from the T/case rubber mount to the chassis) ..

I had a smaller version of pos's on my zook, watch the outerlimits vid to see it , i even roll the car over so you can get a better look. i made it out of 6mm bis 80 and really didnt weigh all that much. front and rear edges were bent up so not to snag on rocks and full width of chassis, i will make some up if needed about $150 + freight. just uses j bolts to clamp on to rails.
i was looking under the zook and i reakon it would be easy to just lift the tranfer case the 1.5/2 in so that it is above the bottom of the chassie rails and then a flat plate under there would be easy to make.
just need bigger rubber blocks and bolts at the mounts (and a body lift of maybe 50mm max)
maybe some tailshaft spacers
