i was trying to find the different lengths between tail shafts in different models sierra - vitara couldn't find a thing only hilux shaft conversion I'm just moving my hilux diffs and sierra transfer around and would like to be able to use standed size/length shafts.
now the search i did said just use hilux straight fit??
hilux front 500mm
rear 1410mm
so i dont know how there surposed to swap??
any one know lengths
I'll start with what i have
lwb front 710mm
lwb rear 860mm
i have swaped shafts puttin rear in front when moved transfer that was with my sierra diff now i have hi lux and custom springs with diff moved forward i need
front to be around >900mm
rear yet to be determond guessing at moment 800mm will try and reuse the rear back in rear but i think it will be too long.
any help would be great

I had to get a shaft lengthened for the front , so I used the old front for the rear shaft , had to be shortened so out came the drop saw , cut round the weld to about 2-3 mm in depth and rotate it in the saw vice , if the the vice is square it should realign pretty much perfect , but before you cut it scriba a line down the shaft to lign it up again , then use a hammer to knock of the end uni , then cut tailshaft tube to desired length and knock the uni back on and line the mark up , then reweld shaft or if you have access to a lathe machine weld out.
What are you going to do about the double angle on the rear shaft where the hilux pinion is in the middle of the centre , I angled my transfer in the car to line up with the front and rear flanges and then tilted rear down a fraction to improve rear tailshaft angle , I then run a front cv to compensate for the angle on the front output shaft , if you have custom springs you might need a front cv as well , Cheers Paul.

hi paul looks like i'll have to get a shaft made for the front as well.
i'm going to go down suzisport today or tomorrow and mesure some up if no one has the lenths to post.
as for thr rear i have a double cardonel (how do you spell that) joint to use but again looks like custom also looking at getting a strengthing ring for transfer and gears so i might take your advise and place it in on a angle to help alround shaft angles.
thanks
