Build up of a new (ML) Triton ute 'Tuff Triton'

Post by tuff triton »

This is what happens to a brand new Mitsubishi Triton (ML) GLX-R 3.2 turbo diesel dual cab ute.

On the day I collected it from the dealership, I had Lightforce 240 spotties and 31 inch BFG Muddies installed.

It didn't take long before the Boy's at Tuff Dog Suspension installed a proto type 2 inch lift kit (this kit included two inch taller front springs, taller and heavyier read leaf springs with adjustable rear shocks - still waiting for the adjustable shocks for the front).
With the suspension lift I was able to buy a set of 33 inch Mickey Thompson MTZ tires (and I have also had a TJM steel bull bar installed).

Now the real fun starts, THe boy's and BBM motorsports at Blacktown had been in my eye for a while and convinced me the truck needed a bit more lift, so we decided on a 2 inch body lift (some of the guys for AT4 also helped)

Now I have even more space under the guards, I have now purchased some new 35 inch Mickey Thompson MTZ tires on new alloy rims.

Now I'm happy with the ride height, it's time to tackle some mechanicals. On the shopping list is a snorkel, then a new exhaust system and may be a DP Chip.

Oh, by the way this is not a show car, here's some photo's of it in action.

Let's see what I can do over the next few months.

Awesome - I luv it..................
Exactly what I want to do (without the body lift) but with canopy for touring/camping.
I will be very interested to hear your opinions of the DP chip when you get that (I've been following the ML guys on 4WD Monthly forum).
How does it ride with the Tough Dog suspension ?
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

Very nice
If I had the funds I'd love to upgrade- best dual cab going around at the moment in my books.

Was there much involved with the bodylift?
Meh...

BTW you don't want to get rid of your stock rims with 31's do you?!

Looks great well done. Drop over to the 4wd monthly forums for a bit of info on the chip, joshinthecity tried it and took it back. Its not fixed yet AFAIK.

Bump for the airbag question.

Also can I ask how you went with the 33's on stock rims? MT's website recommends 7.5" wide rim minimum.

Cheers.
