Whats the 4.0 litre EFI 80series motor like

Post by terra88 »

Hey all,

more questions, just looking at a 1991 80 series very cheap but its only the 4.0 litre efi auto, what does everyone think of these, I know the carby model was shit and useless if going through a little puddle but is the efi any better ..... also is the auto the same as the 4.5 model?

The engine is crap. I replaced it after 250,000ks. Just cant push such a large vehicle. The auto is an A440F which is different from the later 4.5ltr model which is more electonically controled. I think the A440F is better in that respect.

Underpowered. The 4.5 is a much better motor.
