I think that I can speak for all the competitors and say that this years "final" round has lived up to past years expectations. 1st track soon sorted out the field (us included) 2nd was "cone hell" and made the navi's really think (Bastards!!) and Track 3 was a really good open track to help out those with headaches or no sleep (good fun).
As a competitor I'd like to thank ALL the officials and those behind the scenes that have given up thier time again this year to put on another great series
Also while we're at it a huge to the owners and staff of "Bestbrook"
for thier hospitality for rnd 3.....................................
Bring on the presentation weekend.

Well this was the last comp for me. I'm getting out of the sport all together. It was a great weekend for my last comp. I would have loved to have done better for the weekend, but I really enjoyed the company of the other competitors and the layout of the tracks.
Track one was fantastic. Just couldn't get up the waterfall. My full respect and kudos for Barbie and the SCA boys for getting up there. Track two was a nice tight course, and I just couldnt get round that damn tree without wrapping the cab around the tree, and since Im going to try and sell the truck now, I decided not to do that LOL.
Track three was a great track, but I hit too many cones. I think we only had one stop reverse, and one stack, it was the four cones that killed us.
Since this was my last ever tough tracks, on behalf of myself and my spotter Jimmy, I would like to thank all the guys behind the scenes that make the comp happen. You do a marvelous Job.
Craig and Dodsy, you have to be one of the reasons people keep coming back guys. I love your laid back friendly approach, and the way you manage to bring consitency to the event. I may not have always agreed with your calls, but guys I think you do a fantastic job for little more than a few compliments here and there.
I'll just have to come along a watch a few rounds and heckle from the sidelines with a bourbon or two under the belt.
Now come on guys, make with the rest of the pics and the entire results. I'd love to know where we washed up on track three, and overall.

Well round 3 is 'all done & dusted' - so the saying goes - but there was NO dust for a change. It was a great week-end. A shower mid saturday dampened the black soil and the rocks a bit - they were starting to dry up too much anyway .
Scrutineering went well - a few minor hick-ups that were able to be rectified before competition started - well done to all competitors.
A good field in both classes. The numbers were down in challenge class as expected, but that meant that the tracks, which were more difficult than ever, ran smoothly and timely with less stress for the officials.
There weren't as many spectators, but I think that the rain leading up to the week-end kept many spectators away. I think also that the entry fee into Bestbrook was another factor keeping spectators away. Not the best for sponsors as spectators are their target market (the competitors already have their suppliers)
It was great to see the mix up of winners in the trophy class with a Suzuki, Patrols (SWB & LWB), the Bundera, the Jeeps and a Hilux (from memory) all taking trophies. It goes to show how well the tracks were set out. Congrats to Dean in the Patrol wagon who took out 1st overall and to Ted in the Suzuki who 'drove it like he stole it'.
A big thanks once again to all the officials and event organisers for a great event yet again.

Yes we may be "tree huggers" BUT we did get the crowd going after a "fairly quiet" day of competition. We as competitors may be enjoying technical tracks but we do have to get the spetators somthing to talk about and if you have sponsors you need to look after them as well.ofr57 wrote:
at least someone got a photo of those tree hugger's
Anyway those bloody trees kept moving into our drive line!!
Come on "Blackers" "ONE MORE TIME!!!!!!!!"
