Which is better..... 15x8 or 15x7??

Post by machh1 »

Hi all, Ive got a 60s which currently has worn 31s on 15x7 rims. Ive got a spare set of 15x8 rims under the house. My question is, which size rim is better for off raoding? Am going to get 33s either way, and I do a mixture of rock, dirt, mud etc...

Does rim size matter?

Thanks

If you are intending to run 33x12.50R15's later on, go with the 15x8.

Yep, you need 8's to run a 12.5.

I prefer 10.5's on a 7 (or actually a 6.5) but 99% of 33's are 12.5 wide.

Yep.. but try and find a set. There are also some 33 10.5 simexes etc, but when most people think 33, they are thinking 12.5.

BFG used to do a 33 9.5 a well, a really excellent size, but that was discontinued when they went to the KM style, replaced by the 33 10.5.

Actually, the minimum recommended rim width for a 12.5 is 8.5" but try and find a set of them too!

here's a pic of 33x10.5 bfg's on 15x8 rims...

these worked well for me as i didn't want to do a body lift, will probably get 12.5's next time though, as they dig pretty badly in the soft stuff..
