Post by wrksux »

My car had a short last night, im trying to fid it but nothing works
brake lights, dash lights, started nothing not even the alarm.

i think there is an open circut somewhere but not sure the batt has charge and even when jumped nothing will work

any ideas on what it might be or how i could rig teh old girl to start and get her to a auto sparky

matey iam sure youve checked all the fuses, iam not too sure on the tb42, but on the MK/MQ, there is a fuse (not in the fuse box) in between the batt and the chasis, did you have a batt short? or something else? does the radio work? or nada power to anything at all.

actually, iam not too sure if its between the batt and chasis, might be on the other terminal, but theres def a rather large fuse there.

It is the fusable link in the positive cable you are thinking of.

td42 hard starting

Post by eighty8 »

Every now and then mine will fire and then shut down with no ignition lights lit up on the dash, It may do it twice and then all is good. I think it could be to do with contacts or a wire at the back of the ignition barrell. Never plays up when i go looking for it though. Try looking there. Just an
