cv's well longfeilds??????

Post by boy-c »

well this is how it goes i have just gone through 4 rear axles in the past 3 months 2 left and 2 right, snapping all the axle locating studs and dowls, so i bit the bullit and have just bought new one got the machined ( axle and hub ) so they are perfectly flat so there is NNOOOO movement. well all done and went excellent for the first trip out untill i blew a cv so i can easily replace it with a normal one or i could get so stronger one ( longfields - think that is what they are any way ) but the my diff guy nsaid that if i do i could break something else????? any one with them any info?????? o and buy the way this is on a fj 73 middy crusier with 2 inch body 2 inch spring, 2 limo diff front and rear with 4.56 gears and running 37 mtrs on 10 inch rims standard 3f motor with exhust. so no amazing amount of power...... well that sould do it

cheers any help would be good i have also been told to go to the reckers and get 2 genuin yota cvs out of a 60 because it might have had easier life????? just a nother thought.......

cheers boy-c

i think you will find that the rear diff housing is bent by the sounds of what you are saying.

i was running longfields for 2 years with 38.5 x16(wide) x15 tyres and never had any issue with breaking diffs 4.1 arb airlocker.

the other thing that should be taken in to consideration is driving style if you hit every thing flat out things are going to break.

Just remeber it's all metal and nothing will last for ever.
