Mr Green - I like the sound of that - I kinda liked the idea of a full length LWB hardtop (all steel) as I never liked (and don't like ) the "troopy" look of the high roof fibreglass hardtops, (or, for that matter the hard top marutis.) It would be a shed load of work, but it'd be cool if it ended up looking factory (or more factory than those horrible Maruti things)

Putting in car bodies on suzuki chassis just ruins two good cars IMHO. especially a Mini or as above, a Peugeot 205

Flyinwall - a lengthened and widened Sierra, whilst possible (the bonnet and B pillar would be the only hard bits) might not actually be very easy to spot. Plenty of people actually thought my Gwagen was a sierra, even standing next to it! The point here is that lots of people have trouble with scale- it would be easy to do all that work and just end up with something nobody notices (and at the end of the day, the only point behind that sort of car would be for people to notice it.

It would be cool but i only put this up as a joke . this is what i'm looking into. based on a hard top on a lwb chassis & softtop tub welded to rear. the wb is only extended around 250mm over stock lwb ( will be done in coil conversion) the no rear door setup is well in my grasp but with the sectioned rear doors (fixed windows) would take a deeper breath before starting

u could maybe flip a set of front doors over and reverse them so the \ bit is at the rear not the front like the bad case above.

yeh i thought about that and thought i could cut the front corner of another door and weld it to the back of the front door & fab the pillar to match but then there is no room for the seatbelt retracter. i was hoping with the square rear window i could get away with it?

i think you're better to keep stock LWB (no extension) and chop and shorten the rear cab section then get custom glass made for the windows... less chassis mods is a good thing.

Looks good Jase. Ive always liked the security of a tt from rain and other bad elements :x but you would also have a useable tray. Bit of work involved will it be road registered?

sorry bout using someone elses rig for the mockup but i just did a google to find a hardtop sideon to start with.
yes nik if i go through with it it will only be if its all leagle with 4 seats. with the no door version i am hoping the engineer would like it because there would be no change to pillars or seatbelt restraints but to me the 4 door version looks a lot better but probly 4 times the work

that thing would suck offroad. The ramp over is atrocious. Buy a 4Runner if you want something like that. The only exta cabs that look any good IMHO are the Thai ones

Limos are generally made from new vehicle thus modern ADR compliance is not much of a drama

Not sure about the cut and shut needing to comply to the latest rules as it is not much more than a chassis extension which has been done by heaps guys on this forum without that requirement

Extensions to the body will be easier to have engineered if you pick it apart at the body seam (drill the spot welds out). There is a seam in the lower rear of the door jam and one just behind where the floor kicks up.
Pick the extension pieces from the donor apart in the same way

I have seen an XD Falcon SWB fully engineered. He pick the rears from front on rear door, junked what was in between and joined them back up. Looks factory as it all fitted perfectly

If you do the HT with extension (no rear door) engineering should not be a problem as long as you just weld the soft top rear on the back as the passenger cabin retains it's original structural integrity

With ramp over and offroad ability personally to me it does not matter. Most people do mods like this to meet specific space requirements or to be different. Sure you could just buy say a Lux but it is not a unique vehicle which would also be a driving factor I were to build one.

yeh i'm not sure why rampover would be a saga, its only 10'' longer wheelbase than standard lwb wich is nothing new. will be wt, spoa in the front( no i don't need a spoa geomatry lesson) and coil rear and most likely running 33.10.5 15 bf muds so ground clearance would be far better than the one pictured
