4x4 clubs around Newcastle

I couldn't find much (read "anything") via a search, so maybe it is time to start a survey.

What 4x4 clubs are available in the Newcastle region? Who are you with and why, and what sort of $'s do they ask for?

I'm after a bit of socialising, knowledge and trips. General beach/camping/fire trials and bush driving, with opportunities for harder stuff as well. Availability of training would also be good.

What do you get out of your club (that I can't get out of this site )?

I believe Kermit (as in Alan Duncan) lives in Newcastle and belongs to a 4wd club in that area. But i'm not sure what it is called.

I guess that gets you part way there though

yeah myself, Old yella, Wizbin and i think there r a few others on here r in the newcastle landrover club.

not a bad club mostly made of older members that dont like the hardcore stuff but thats ok.

there r quite a few good things bout this club

- it has a huge number of members ( over 300 i believe)
- its an association(sp?) member
- it has the landy lease up near the allan river (gr8 spot 4 campin and mild wheelin)
- has a few hard trips during the year.
- funkana's r held every coupla months also
- every now and then there is a harder funkana called the mild 2 wild, which consists of different tracks 4 different classes and they r good fun hard little sections

altho it aint the club 2 join if u want just hardcore wheeling and stuff...

yeah i'll second that about the club, i have looked into it and me and the mrs are going to join, im in the tlcc and they dont seem to run any decent medium to hard trips, most of there wheeling involves dirt roads! the last two trips that i went on i did not have to put my truck in 4wd. and in the last 4 months there has only been 3 trips advertised!!

i agree xxxl80 thats why i left the tlcc, i just didnt find any value in it there were no hard trips etc, and to get onto the driving team is near impossible, funny thing is that the reserves on the tlcc driving team scored more points in one day of comp than the whole rest of the driving team over the weekend at nissan trials

our medium trips are getting a bit too hard

for newbies, and our hard trips

well everytime we go out the bar gets raised

if theres not at least one rollover

we find something harder

I think we may need some new grading system

we grade our trips

easy

medium

hard

but there is so many variations in between

for instance I took a trip down Rope road in the Watagans

and that was a medium, with 15 odd newbies,

what do you guys think for trip gradings.

WELLL geeezzz i havent seen any decent 1's advertised that i havent done b4 in a ZOOK ...................


And its been way longa then 12 months ...............wen they rethink there joining fee i will maybe rejoin but y wen in all honestly there is prob only one place that it helps to be part of a club to enter (menai) and even then well

oh yeah and to compete in some events that can be won by lux owner/drivas............


And hasnt there only been 1 roll over of late (long troll) and iif so more who and where........otha than Boof at the jamba

thats the prob once you have done them all.

but I still enjoy driving the local tracks.

I know Menai is good , but you can't drive for

3 hours to go wheeling everytime.

especially when tracks like

Widowmaker

Golden gates

Bowmans

steps

wave rock

whitemans ridge

slippery rock

rope road

the dipper

hell hill

Sugarloaf trails

the Sugarloaf trail & Gilberts

Suzuki test track

are between 10 minutes and an hour from home.

there has been a roll over on every hard trip

in the last 6 months.

3 rolls were the same truck

another was a Hilux, a MQ Patrol, a 60 series Cruiser

on the dipper alone myself and 3 other club members

had a strap on the side holding our trucks up from falling over

after the first 2 came to grief.


but you wouldn't know if you weren't there.

all of these tracks we have done recently

as you would remember, we go out fairly frequently.

so get some dirt on them tyres Dan

and come out with us
