Here in the USA, 2LT-II's and 3L's were not sold. So I had a problem when I decided to go hy-steer in my 1985 4Runner with a 2LT-II (3L oil pan).

If I install a hy-steer steering setup, my tie rod will be located a couple " below my oil pan. Since I have 5" of up-travel in my suspension, the tie rod will make contact with the oil pan long before I hit my bumpstops.
I am running 3" O.M. Emu front springs, and would prefer not to go any higher with the suspension (1" body lift already).
Is it possible to go hysteer with this setup without moving the axle 3" forward? (1" forward is what I was thinking to clear the firewall with 35's)
I am thinking with some longer hy-steer arms (6" from kingpin to TR hole?), combined with moving the axle forward 1", it might do it. Nobody up here makes a 6" hy-steer arm, All pro is closest, @ 5".
Otherwise, I gotta pull the oil pan/(sump) and chop/weld it. any ideas? or maybe some pics of the modifications needed for the oil pan?
You guys down there with the diesels probably alrady have this figured out. None of the hy-steer vendors up here in north America have any ideas except for lifting the suspension/hangers. This is my daily driver, so I would like to leave it where it's at @ 4" of lift.

i was having the same problem that you are talking about, i have sky manufacturing short arms with the axle approaximately 5 inch foward, this allows the tie rod and relay to run between the sump and the radiator if that makes sence.
If you want i can sort you out with a 4wd rear sump and pick up.

5" forward is quite a bit. I am planning to go 1.5~2" forward.
I think I got this problem figured out. The motor came out of a Japanese hi-ace van, with the "wings" on the sump. The plan is to cut off the bottom part of that sump and weld on the bottom half of a 22RE sump.
I want to hang on to the 3L pan I have on there now, just in case this little project doesn't turn out.
Obviously the easy way to make room for a hysteer setup is to add suspension lift, but I want to keep the total lift to 4".
I went ahead and ordered the hysteer from allpro. they have the longest arms I could find, and I think they will work well with a shorter pitman arm.
