3 speed Automatic

Post by team sub MARINE »

I bought an automatic CJ7 selecting gears but nothing is happening has plenty of fluid. I can't hear or feel any bands slipping but car still not moving. Has anyone got any ideas!!!!! could it be a pump.

make sure your transfer gear selector is in 2wd mine sometimes goes into a neutral position and cancels out the auto you can move the shifter and nothing if the cj7 has a body lift check your clerance on the body to tranfer selecter as this can nock it into neutral mine does this when i flex the jeep hope this helps :)

gearbox

it doesn't seem to work in anything 4l, 4h or 2h gearbox not engaging when going into gears. I don't have a body lift either to blame yet

is the shifter linkage under the car still connected i've got a hurst shifter and the nut adjustment is a little short on the rod , check your cable before the selectors it might be kinking instead of pushing linkage forward to select gear if not disconnect the cable or rod get somone in to hold foot on brake and see if you can get drive by manualy putting in the selectors at the gear box if it doesn't go in then i'd say it will be internal :?

yes thanks to all ,got the gear box fully rebuilt that sorted the problem as the selector shaft rod was broken so when trying to engage gears the top linkage was turn but not moving the selector rod internaly .
