Iwas just looking on ebay and saw a trick looking diff breather kit. It hs an anodised fitting that takes two airlines from the diffs and has filters attached to proper airline fittings.

the problem I envision is that the diff would need to be drilled and tapped to except the fittings for the airline. the seller says its not neccessary as the line is 6mm and will fit most existing breather outlets in the housings.

any thoughts?

has anyone used the kit i am refering to?

where there any problems?

you pull the cap off the original ones you allready have and place the tube onto it. or itll come with new fittings that will screw in to the old breather hole.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

i have a cj6 with dana 44's front and rear.

a j10 with a dana 60 rear and a 44 front.

a cj6 ute with a 44 rear and a 27a front,

and a cj with an amc 20 rear and a 30 front.

thinking about usung them for all of the above. better than the old fuel filter set up i have now.

I'm currently looking at buying one of those same breather kits, hopefully they stay less than the current $92 on ebay... was bidding up to $87 on the last set I wanted.

I have a GQ Patrol/Maverick so my original diff breather tube fitting simply unscrews and is replaced by the push-on hose fitting these kits use.

Theres nothing wrong with normal hose and a fuel filter, unless you need the bling anodised look going on?

on a GQ/GU pull off the original and push on a length of your discression of fuel line. place a stailess hose clamp on and run to wherever you want it. will cost as little as 20 bucks.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

He is doing well off those diff breathers if there going for $90 :armsup: :armsup:

I made up my own for the two diffs and the gearbox all running into the engine bay with fuel filters on the end for under $30. ;)

IIRC Brenden had a 'Supercheap' article in 4WDM around a year ago that covered what to buy and instilation.

uh huh good guess. They're a good set up that he puts together nice and neat. I have brought a heap of stuff off him, diff gears, Boss Compressor and tank, brake lines, breather kits all sorts of stuff and all reliable, not rubbish, which you pay a little more for sometimes.

do you really need fancy anodised breathers? is it a show truck? and if it is do you need breathers at all???

as far as shop trucks you obviously havent been off road with me.

its just a very neat and obviously different way to run your breathers.

get under my rig. with oil coolers runing on diffs, transmissions . two fuel tanks and transfer and gearbox breathers. i have enough fuel hose under the truck to last me a life time.

it would be nice to get under the truck look up and know which line is which.

I am planning to pull one of the fittings out of my diff, take it to someone like enzed or pirtek, should be able to match the thread and buy a 90 degree threaded fitting with a push fit socket for 6mm nylon compressed airtube and a handful of push fit tee's

I intend to run both diffs, trf and gbox in 1 line up to my intake air duct just after the air filter. should be an easy neat way of fitting breathers and am sure it would cost a heap less than ebay jobs.


anyone see any problems with running breathers into the intake airduct??

one advantage of the above install, difs etc get the smae level of water protection as engine, particularly with snorkel fitted

Plumb your breathers into your air cleaner and it works for any vehicle. No "kit" needed.

Like you said, any good hydraulic hose supplier has a mountain of fittings to do the job easily, cheaply and properly.
